Install on macOS

  1. Open Terminal and run:

    Terminal window
    curl -fsSL https://github.com/Mark7888/two-place-paste/releases/latest/download/install-macos.sh | sh

The script picks the right build for your Mac (Apple Silicon or Intel), checks it against the release’s checksum, and installs TwoPlacePaste.app into /Applications — or into ~/Applications if /Applications is not writable without a password.

  2. Open TwoPlacePaste from Applications or Spotlight. It has no Dock icon: look for the icon in the menu bar. Because this Mac is not in a group yet, the app also opens in your browser. Later, opening TwoPlacePaste again while it runs brings the app back up in your browser.

  3. The first time it shows a notification, macOS asks whether TwoPlacePaste may send notifications. Allow it — that is how the app asks which way to sync when it cannot tell.

Set a variable in front of sh to install something other than the latest stable release:

Terminal window
# a specific release
curl -fsSL https://github.com/Mark7888/two-place-paste/releases/latest/download/install-macos.sh | TPP_VERSION=0.1.0 sh
# the latest Beta build
curl -fsSL https://github.com/Mark7888/two-place-paste/releases/latest/download/install-macos.sh | TPP_CHANNEL=beta sh

Running the command again updates the app by hand. Normally you do not need to: the app updates itself.
